    3. I know there were Amish in Surry Co at that time. Several of my Key ancestors were there is a letter written my GGgrandmother to my GGgrandfather in the pioneer museum in Hayward CA. It was donated by my G-Uncle Frank Key. It was written later than your talking about but she was from a line of Amish. They were not as secluded way back as they are now. My GGgrandmother was Clarice Rose or Ross (depending who's doing the telling) Herring Key b 6-02-1832 Mt Airy Surry Co NC Married Augustine Key 9-5-1852. The letters along with some of her clothing were donated in the 1980's they were written to Augustine during his time in the Civil War. Perhaps if someone is near Hayward (just outside San Francisco Ca) they might see them. I was suposed to get copies of the letters but never did. On to the Whites I have a photo of William Riley White known as Riley taken pre Civil War and a memory book written by my G-Aunt lexa White who was married to Edgar Herring who was first cousin to my Grandfather James Key who was married to Aunt Lexa's sister Freezie.
