    1. [WHITE] History Channel "Desperate Voyage"
    2. Thomas A Nelson
    3. I watched the History Channel production on the voyage of the May Flower to the new world last night. Found it interesting, but was saddened that the only time a White was mentioned was the scene where William Bradford was ill and turned to an old man laying beside him (who had died) and said "Mr White?" Well for the record....William White was not an old man. He was born ca 1591 (one record gives a birth date of 10 Nov 1591 in England..not documented). So he made it to the "old" age of 28 at the time of his death. Another record says that only four adult women made it through the first winter at the Plymouth Colony. Susanna [--?--] White was one of them. By February 1621 there were only 50 survivors, adults, and children. Well kudos to our White ancestress.....she made it as a nursing mother and survived with a newborn babe, Peregrine White, and a five year old, Resolved White. As one of only four women, no wonder she married so soon, on 12 May 1621, to Edward Winslow, a later governor of the colony. Another first, (Peregrine the first child born at the colony) as theirs was the first marriage in the colony. Janet Nelson
