I don't have your Stephen White in my tree, but my tree does include two Stephen Whites b. 1803 and 1829. Stephen b. 1803 son of William White and Hannah Stetson; Stephen b. 1829 a nephew b. to another son of William, Phineas White. This leads me to suspect it was a family name. These are Whites who lived around Dartmouth, later Fairhaven, in Bristol Co, MA. You might want to check Vital Records in that area. William (wife Hannah) served in the Rev. War, as did his father William White (wife Mercy Sears). It was called Dartmouth in 1775 when they enlisted, later Fairhaven, so check Dartmouth vitals for your Stephen White. Good Luck, Sorry I could not help more.
