Bob, I am interested in what you find because my family came at least by the 1830s and it was suppose to be because of the Potato famine. Have you looked under Scotch/Irish? I'd never questioned it, but I just went on line and entered "potato famine Ireland" and found info only about the great famine you mentioned. And nothing is mentioned about other famines.
