I am Mary White Dunnam. My 5ggrandfather was a Joseph White from Augusta Co.,Virginia he had 3 sons, the County Court Order Book August 24-1754 showes William White bound to David HaysNivember 20-1754 Joseph White says his Child was bound to David Hays when he was absent and is capable of raising his son. The court Ordered the child returned to his Father.*. Joseph White left Virginia Prior o 1790 and went to the area along the French Broad River in North Carolina. (probably Henderson Co.). The people in Augusta Co. were mainly Scotch -Irish and probley the White family as well. do not have proof that this william was the same William White of Franklin, Co. Ga. or he was the the Father of that Willliam, We are fairly suret hat there were three sons that came to Franklin Co. about the time it was opened in 1784; William --- probably the eldest Jeptha Born between 1760-1770 Abel Born between 1769-1775 I can not find a spouse for joseph. . The Chalkly Lyman, Chronicles of the Scotch- Irish settlement in Virginia, Genealogical Plublishing, Co. 1980 has the Court Order Book on line. William White came to Franklin Co. Ga.sometime around 1790 he applied for a Hearright Grant from the state of Georgina in 1790. He received 140 acres on the Estanola Creek next to David Hays and Williamson. He bought additional land from Daniel Morgan. In 1802 he paid txes on 260 acresof land. His wife was Mary, who may have been that daughter of Obediah Hooper. Obediah Hooper was a resident of Franklin , Co. who lived in the Estanola Creek area. William died about 1808, he did not leave a will but his estate was inventoried on June 9,1808. I have a list of the Items. A Mary White administered his estate and Abel White was one of the appraisers of his estate. Mary Sold off some of the land but paid taxes on 100 acres in Franklin , co.and 200 acres of land William drew in the 1807 land lottery in Jones cO, Ga, MAry became Ill in 1831 and drew up her will. She must have remined ill for for the last 10 years of her life since her sons conducted business for her after that date. I I have about 3 more pages that may be of instrest to some White some where.
