The son (of John and Mary F White) who moved to Michigan (from Erie or Huron Co. Ohio) was Palmer F. White. He is listed in the 1870 census as P.F. White, age 44, husband to Olive. A (34), father to Carrie M (9), John B (5) and Lizzie May (2). in Ingham Co Mi. As far as I know, the children never had any of their own -- but I may be wrong. Palmer was born around 1826 in NY. The middle initial "F" in Palmer's name may have stood for "Ferris". "Ferris", his mother's middle name, may have been, as you suggested, her mother's maiden name. Alas, this would make Mary Ferris White's maiden name almost impossible to figure out. Palmer had a sister named Elizabeth White. She was born in 1831 in Ohio (Erie or Huron Co) and married Daniel A. James (born in 1828 in Ohio). I know of three children: Palmer (born 1852) (named after his uncle). Daniel Arza James, Jr. (born 1854) and Nettie M. James. There may have been others. These family members (except for Palmer James) are buried with Elizabeth's parents (John and Mary Ferris White) in the Old West End Cemetery in Berlin Twp. Erie County (although this could actually be Huron Co), Ohio. The 1900 census has Daniel James (the father) living with Palmer James (his son). Linda In a message dated 11/12/2006 7:52:24 A.M. My line starts with Charles Henry White b. 1843. No names for the parents or siblings, just a few census reports with wives and children and a marriage date/place with no paperwork to prove it. Do you have a Charles born about 1843 in Michigan or NY? I'm looking for the a Mary Ferris (? --- Her married name was Mary Ferris White, I assume her last name was Ferris) who married John White. Both, I believe, where born in the 1790's and came from Addison County, VERMONT (not NY). They moved to St. Lawrence Co. NY where their son Henry E. White was born in (circa) 1820. They had other children as well: Elizabeth, Sarah and other boys: William? Byron?, and another...... By 1830, or so, the family had relocated in Huron or Erie County, Ohio. Henry became a doctor and married Roxanna Denman; the couple remained in Huron Co. Ohio; the girls married and remained local. and I'm not sure what happened to the other boys except that one became a "society doctor" in New York, another moved to Ingham County, Michigan....The parents (John and Mary White) are buried in Berlin Heights. Ohio. .Anybody have any info on this family? lm ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to WHITE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to WHITE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Thanks Linda. Are you doing the DNA testing? I don't see any connection between our families at this point, but it would be neat to see if the DNA turns up a connection. I think I'm going to ask my husband for a test kit as an Xmas gift. It might save him from having to traipse through cemeteries with me. <smile> Adrienne. -----Original Message----- From: white-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:white-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Ldd1997@aol.com Sent: Sunday, November 12, 2006 6:07 PM To: white@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WHITE] White --- Ferris and now, James The son (of John and Mary F White) who moved to Michigan (from Erie or Huron Co.
