Margaret, Wondering what is your James White's information? I have a great-grandfather and grandfather who were James White. All I know so far is that my grandfather was James Franklin White and he lived in Zanesville Ohio; my dad doesn't know anything else since he was the baby of the family. My James was born 1809 in New Brighton, Beaver co, PA. And his middle initial is M, not F. Insofar as I know, they came directly to the area now Meigs and Vinton co, but was Gallia Co at the time. Have you gotten your grandfather on the census? It should give you a place of birth. Also Muskingum co has many books out. Our library has most of them. My father didn't know his gr grandfather either. he said they worked from sun up to sun-down, and no one had time to talk about family much. If you don't have access to the Muskingum books, let me know. i volunteer on Wed afternoons and could probably look in the index to see if there is anything to help.
