    3. Anita: Herry Calhoun White is not a name that I have ever heard of in the family. Interesting how things happen though. I grew up in Highlands and am writing this from there right now. I am guessing that White's Lake on the San Jacinto River is named after Henry C. White. My GG grandfather, John Cary White was born in GA around 1818 and came to Texas before 1836. On April 21, 1836 he fought in the Battle of San Jacinto ( which is only about 2 miles from Highlands) and was granted 640 Ac. of land in Millican, Grimes county Texas. His son was named James C White and his grandson ( my grandfather) was also named James C. White. They all lived around Navasota in Grimes County. My grandfather married Elizabeth Keefer from around North Zulch in Madison County and after moving around throughout Texas retired back in North Zulch.
