The 1860 census of Anderson Co. SC lists a Susan White age 46) as head-of-household. There are 4 Children listed- Charles (18), Stephen (15), Martha (10), and James (4). Susan, Martha, and James W. again appear in the 1870 census. A James again appears in the 1880 Anderson Co. census with wife and 1 son. (The 1880 image is extremely difficult to read). My ggf, Charles was listed as 28 on the 1870 census of DeKalb Co. Alabama-birthplace SC; and again (spelled Charly) as 38 in the 1880 census of Anderson, SC. Charles subsequently brought his family to Upsher Co., TX. I have 1887 and 1888 county tax records on him. Until I found Susan's record two nights ago, we had no clue to my GGF's parents. I feel Susan may be his mother. Does anyone out there have knowledge of, or connect to, Susan in any way? Charles White has been a HUGH brick wall for me to this point. Thanks for ANY information.
