Father operated a motel in Maimi suburbs about 1956 After his father and mother separated, his mother went to Mt Vernon, NY and re-married along with his sister. Hi Anita: Most of my White family is from Madison and Grimes county Texas. The White side of our family is very small (I am the only survivor for 3 generations back) Madison county is one of the less populated counties in central Texas -- it only has about 15,000 people currently-- and there has not been much construction or industry- mostly ranching. The only real construction that was going on in the mid 1950's would have been pipeline and oil field construction. That probably will not help much because most workers were very mobile and moved with the jobs and were probably just passing through Madison county. The male Whites in my family were named J. C. White. -- either James Cobb or John Cary. That naming goes back to before the Texas revolution in 1836.
