Hi...Saw your posting onWHITES and was struck by the Augustus in the name. I have an ancestor, William Gus (Gustavious)WHITE who named his daughter Augusta...(Gussie) and always wondered where the family got those partcular names and your posting is the first one that lists anything close. William GusWHITE's father was Jacob S. [for Straughn] White and he was from the east somewhere. Jacob S was an M.D. served in the U.S.Army during the Mexicn war and again as a Major in the Union Army in the Indiana 34th Regiment as Surgeon...Resigned as Ill in 1864, died 1865 in Kokomo, Indiana. His wife was Elizabeth Grant White and they lived in Breckinridge Co.
