HiYa White List Members! Our WHITE List is fast approaching 500 members. Volume could be phenomenal at times, so don't be surprised while we learn the ropes. Address lines, subject lines, and idle words can really tie up mailboxes. Everyone is encouraged to give attention to these areas. SO REMEMBER: Many of our WHITE members are still new and learning. We're gonna make it and make mistakes too. I'm thrilled to see the interest in this "Family Fued" Lookup Offer. As I've learned in the past, we sometimes don't realize how im- portant an offer like this can be. WE ARE NOW Marleen was right about paying attention to your subject lines as well as deleting un-necessary material before replying to a message. Older members and all our WHITE NEWBIES should pay close attention to this area. I've also set the "reply to" button to send all messages back to the list. When traffic is slow this allows some volume for those who're impatient. It also gives a lot of members an opportunity to see the reply on a given post. That reply may contain valuable information as well as a unique connection for a new WHITE subscriber. SO REMEMBER to change 'the address to' OR the 'send to' line with your messages 1. PAY ATTENTION to your subject lines 2. PAY ATTENTION to your 'addressee' - 'send to' line 3. PAY ATTENTION to deleting un-necessary words and lines WHITE LIST OWNER AND WHITE BOARD ADMINISTRATOR :::Glenn::: ======================================================= ======================================================= I am not the list manager, although I do manage 8 other RootsWeb surname lists, and I hope none of you take personally what I am going to say, I do not mean it that way. An offer was made for copies of a letter regarding a White Feud. If you want copies of this letter, you were requested to respond directly to the person making the request. So far, about 20 members of the list have responded to the list, and not the person making the offer. This is a large list, the avalanche has only begun. The way this list is set up when you click Reply, or Reply All the list address automatically comes up in the To portion of the message. In order for the message to go to the individual you really want to reply to, you must delete the list address and type or paste in the address of the person you want it to go to. By addressing your "me too" messages to a specific person, you do not annoy other list members, and more importantly, you do not clutter up the list archive with irrelevant messages and waste space at RootsWeb. Please keep this in mind when responding to generous offers, such as the White Feud. ..........<Marleen Van Horne>
