I am seeking information on James White, who raised a large family in Benton/Wahsington Co., AR in the mid 1800's. This James is described by Goodspeed, "History of Benton Co." "James White was born in North Carolina, August 5, 1801. He was a teacher, surveyor, and a farmer. He married Matilda Lawder who was born in Tennessee. They had fourteen children. The family settled in the Arkansas Territory in the Spring of 1836 which later came to be called Mud Town, Benton County, AR. James died in 1886 and was buried in Benton Co." Also from Goodspeed, "History of Benton Co." pg. 905--"Joseph D. White is a descendant of James White, who was born in North Carolina, and was a farmer by occupation. He came to Arkansas in 1836, settling on the farm now occupied by his son Joseph D. He held the office of justice of the peace for a number of years before the war, and was elected to the same position after the cessation of hostilities. He died in 1886, leaving a family of nine children to mourn his loss". Any help on information or sources of info on his children, parents or siblings would be appreciated. Tommy Graham TomG@oui.com
