    3. I think your Minnie Laura White, born about 1868 if she mar in 1888, could have been a sister to Thomas Hews White who mar Lou Anna Rice. Lou Anna could have been a sister to your John Samuel Rice. (Families often had boys and girls from one family marrying those in another family...brother, sister type things). And they did name a daughter Minnie. So you probably need to search for Thomas Hews White, b 1863 in Jefferson Co, Tn. I believe he was the son of James Harrison White and Harriett Isabella Moore who mar in Jefferson Co, Tn Dec 8, 1842. James Harrison White, father to Thomas Hews (and maybe your Minnie) died in Gatesville, Texas, Coryell Co, in 1901. Children of this couple were: Martha Jane b 1843, Ephriam Manning White b 1845, Richard Lafayette White b 1847, George Marvin 1850, Ann Mariah b 1852, Samuel Marion White, b 1854, and James Judson White born 1856 and Robert Hardin White born 1858, Charles Porter White b 1861, and Thomas Hews b Mar 14, 1863. Harriett would only have been 39 when Thomas Hews was born, so it is very possible that another child, Minnie could have been born a little later. If you are new to genealogy, you may not know they had children for thirty years sometimes, and as many as twenty or more! Amazing! I have a Minnie E. White also, b Nov, 3, 1881 to Charles Wm White b 1834 in Loudoun Co, Va and who mar Sarah Elizabeth Beales b 1845, but both of the parents seemed to have lived and died in Loudoun Co, Va. Would have been kin to the others I mentioned. Since you are inexperienced, look in those counties I listed for the Whites and see if you can find any Rice's close by. Back in those days they traveled and lived in groups for safety's sake. The 1850 census of Opelika, Ala may have some Whites and Rice listings, altho it was too early for birth of your couple, this census gives birthplace of parents of each couple. a very good way to find trail back. Welcome to the family of genealogy....and I think somehow we are cousins!! <G> Will watch out for your names and will help you anytime you ask.
