    3. My ancestor, Jacob White, was born in 1784, so could not have been the Jacob mentioned in the volumes dated 1776 and 1759. My Jacob was born in Bertie County, N.C. and married Elizabeth Hoggard on July 4, 1804. My Jacob moved to Alabama with his daughter and son-in-law, Soloman and Elizabeth White Stapleton. He was found in the Stapleton household in 1850 as well as Asa White, his son. Elizabeth Hoggard White was found back in Bertie County, N.C. in the 1850 census, living with her son, Jacob White, Jr. That census showed that she owned 15 slaves. So my Jacob and his wife Elizabeth must have separated.
