White to an ancestor James Durkee Howard. I would love for Harvey's descendants to have a copy of these letters. H.S.White Harvey S. White 8th Illinois Cavalry, Company I Residence: Blackberry Enlisted: September 12th, 1861 Mustered into US service: September 18th, 1861 He reenlisted as a veteran, and was discharged from the army on May 27th, 1865, as a 1st Sergeant.
