It's been a while, so I will try my Texas Whites again. My grandfather had a half-brother, much older than he. Below is all I know about him. The obit was pasted in one of my grandfather's scrapbooks. He also had a sister named Kate who married Nathan Louis McCracken. I'd love to contact descendants. Mary Husband: Antoine V. M Child: Monte WHITE Husbands Notes... Notes: A.V. WHITE IS DEAD AFTER LONG ILLNESS WAS PIONEER CITIZEN AND LONG-TIME MEMBER OF MASONS A.V. White, and old resident of Groveton (Texas) after eleven months of severe suffering passed away Monday at 2 p.m. He was buried Tuesday afternoon with Masonic honors. Rev. G. E. McCaleb conducted the services at the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, one son, Monte, and a brother of Greenville, Mo., and a sister Mrs. Kate McCracken of Davenport, Okla. Mr. White was born in Bosque county, Texas, Nov. 14, 1855. When eleven years old moved with his parents to Illinois where he could have advantage of better schools than Texas afforded at that time. In 1878 he moved back to Texas, locating at Forth Worth. And in 1884 came to Groveton where he has resided since. The deceased was a contractor and built many good residences in Groveton and most of the school buildings of our community. He was a beloved member of the Church of Christ of Groveton and was a Mason for 40 years, holding an office in the Lodge most of the time. He leaves many sorrowing friends behind.
