    1. [WHITE] Sarah Adessa White
    2. Hello again; I have been very interested in the recent thread of information on this list about WHITE families connected to South Carolina. Please -- keep my gggm Sarah Adessa WHITE in mind. Somewhere, in those bunches of names you may have, may lurk the clue I have been seeking for many years. No matter how many leads I have followed, the road to her parentage seems to go on forever. In case you missed my first letter -- Sarah Adessa WHITE was born about 1830, in either North or South Carolina. The discrepancies are caused by conflicting entries in census and other records. I do not know who her parents were, nor any siblings' names (with the possible exception of William, mentioned below). In 1850, Sarah was married to Charles CLEAVER and living in Northern KY on the Ohio River. They had at least two children. Living with her in the 1850 census was a William WHITE, aged 19. No clue from there. By 1855, Sarah had married Hiram POTTS, with whom there were several more children. Someone on this list mentioned a connection with boating -- Hiram POTTS was called a "steamboat man" and the men in his family were also heavily into river boating and teamstering. Sarah Adessa White Cleaver Potts died in 1900. I have names of all their children, many details after the Potts marriage. Not much earlier. One continuing clue has been the name ADESSA. It was passed to at least two grand-daughters, and I hope may show up somewhere farther back in her own family. Please keep me in mind with any possibilities. You all have much more information on your WHITE lineages than I do. Best wishes, Ann Bergelt Florida, too!
