    3. I know there were Amish in Surry Co at that time. Several of my Key ancestors were there is a letter written my GGgrandmother to my GGgrandfather in the pioneer museum in Hayward CA. It was donated by my G-Uncle Frank Key. It was written later than your talking about but she was from a line of Amish. They were not as secluded way back as they are now. My GGgrandmother was Clarice Rose or Ross (depending who's doing the telling) Herring Key b 6-02-1832 Mt Airy Surry Co NC Married Augustine Key 9-5-1852. The letters along with some of her clothing were donated in the 1980's they were written to Augustine during his time in the Civil War. Perhaps if someone is near Hayward (just outside San Francisco Ca) they might see them. I was suposed to get copies of the letters but never did. On to the Whites I have a photo of William Riley White known as Riley taken pre Civil War and a memory book written by my G-Aunt lexa White who was married to Edgar Herring who was first cousin to my Grandfather James Key who was married to Aunt Lexa's sister Freezie. 3. Note;( I also have a White below mar. to a ROBERT FRIEND listed below.) Hello Researcher's. Joseph White b unk. but was found with name in a court record on a will or other record in N C. belived to be father of The Below William. unproven,. William White in N. C. b before abt. 1740 + or --. Had 12 children with Anderson the yougest and last. I have a 3rd Grt Grandfa.; Anderson ( Whyte), White b 7 June 1801 in Orange ( ?), Co. N C. as found in White Family Bible last known to be in hands of a descendant in Tx. (??). Anderson as per family, at one point in his life prior to any marriage joined the Robinson Circus and toured around the country. His trick was to walk a tight rope and play the fiddle at the same time.. If he did this, it must have been early in life as he seemed to be connected either with farming or, perhaps was working at Jacob Franklin Byler's Gin in 1824. There are Oxford's / Byler's / Barrett ; Barnett; and Davis connected as well as some other surnames to Andersons line before and after. On the last day of May ( 30 th) 1825 Anderson White married to Mary Ann "Polly" Byler Davis. in Florence, Lauderdale Co. Al. Mary Ann first mar to Benjamin Davis and had five ch. , When Benjamin suddenly died and left Mary Ann with 5 ch. to raise. He had a substantial farm with slaves etc. which Mary Anne sold later. 3. Rootsweb doesn't allow attachment's to be sent to list's. It prevents virus's from being spread thru their system (& ours) :) You'll have to copy & paste or cut & paste it onto an email instead. 3. Eva - what a great thing to do!! We are mostly struggling with our White lines. But there wasn't a file. I think the lists don't send attachments. Maybe that's what happened. 1. [WHITE] Moses and Hugh White
    2. All of us are trying to piece these "White" bits together into lines and to help do this I would like for all of us to be as specific as possible as to WHEN and WHERE our specific named ancestors lived. For example, there have been scads of Moses and Hugh White's. and, I imagine most descended from Old Moses and Hugh White, the brothers who had immigrated to PA in 1717-19. I am pretty sure that there were many of their descendants have had those same names. Old Hugh had a son named Moses and he settled on Davidson's Creek on the upper Catawba River in Rowan Co., NC, whereas Old Hugh's brother who is named Moses settled in New Castle, Delaware, and dispersed from there. My gt(3rd) GF, Hugh, who settled (mid 1700's) in Mecklenburg, NC, was from Lancaster Co., PA. Paul R. White
