I have no info. on your particular White branch--so far. You need to connect names and places in Va. and North Carolina. I am aware of the historical migrations of the Whites to certain NC counties. My Stephen first landed in 1658 at Quantico, VA., next he migrated to Anne Arundel Co., Md. And he married Anne Rockhold, settling at Rock Creek, now Ft. Smallwood in Anne Arundel Co. By 1722 my Whites were in Joppa Md., then part of (East) Baltimore Co., near the Gunpowder River. With British depredations along this river, my family moved to Beaufort Co., NC. Good luck! The correction: Addison Co., Vt -- not NY. I'm looking for the a Mary Ferris (? --- Her married name was Mary Ferris White, I assume her last name was Ferris) who married John White. Both, I believe, where born in the 1790's and came from Addison County, VERMONT (not NY). They moved to St. Lawrence Co. NY where their son Henry E. White was born in (circa) 1820. They had other children as well: Elizabeth, Sarah and other boys: William? Byron?, and another...... By 1830, or so, the family had relocated in Huron or Erie County, Ohio. Henry became a doctor and married Roxanna Denman; the couple remained in Huron Co. Ohio; the girls married and remained local. and I'm not sure what happened to the other boys except that one became a "society doctor" in New York, another moved to Ingham County, Michigan....The parents (John and Mary White) are buried in Berlin Heights. Ohio. .Anybody have any info on this family? lm

There might be a connection. I've been wondering about accessing public records for the area but don't know how to begin. I was told that Addison, like many other counties, has redrawn it's lines (probably more than once) since that time. Thank you!. Linda M.

I noticed that there is a July 1863 photograph of the home of a G. J. White near Gettsyburg online. An old man appears at the gate and a woman in a hoop skirt is on a porch. Any idea whose White family this is? It is accessible via the Prints and Photographs Library of Congress website, digital file LC-DIG-cwpb-03853. You can pop LC-DIG- cwpb-03853 into Google and the photo will be item 5 on the list. Cheers, Laura in NC

Don' they want to capture your credit card info on this? I tried to look something up but just got the same old "free trial" screens that hope you'll forget when the trial ends so they can automatically sock it to you. I just saw a charge like that for another company on my credit card bill. After two months, I finally got to someone who agreed that I had never downloaded the software they tried to charge me for. Beware! Anyway, I think my library has a subscription to Ancestry, so I can go over there anytime. I got there with no problem, of course I have an Ancestry subscription, but I doubt that it was used because access was too quick. However, I am interested in immigration to Canada and this is only Ellis Island as far as I can see. Ellis Island is quite late in the immigration experience in North America and in the United States.
