I've "rescued" the original marriage certificate belonging to Daniel MITCHEL and Phebe WHITE who were married in Bucks County, Pennsylvania on the 27th day of January 1842. Both the bride and groom were from Lower Makefield, PA according to the certificate. The marriage was conducted by Daniel Y. HARMAN and witnessed by John L. KEITH, Hannah HARMAN, Daniel MITCHELL, and Shele MITCHELL. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of the family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Absolutely! Jemima White Wilburn was born a Harris - sister of Sherwood Harris. I show that Jemima and Henry White had the children: see my research on gencircles.com. I suspect that Stephen White, son of Jemima might be our Stephen White, born 1762, who married Elizabeth Searcy. I have been unable to prove this theory other than the following that appeared on Stephen's pension records as folows: White Family Genealogical Abstracts for Revolutionary War Soldiers by Elnore White Farquhar, Heritage Books, Inc. S3542 NC Stephen White born 25 Nov 1762 Granville Co NC Died 9 March, 1846 in Rutherford Co TN Applied for pension in 1832 Rutherford Co TN Entered service at Granville Co NC. Resided; Granville Co to 1784; then to Madison Co KY until 1805- then to Rutherford Co TN wife; Elizabeth Searcy Step father- Zechariah Williams served with him. Stephen White also served in War of 1812 Help me piece together this puzzle? -----Original Message----- From: barebear@insightbb.com To: White-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 15 Nov 2006 7:22 PM Subject: Re: [WHITE] Harris & White In Granville County, NC In April of 2002 Donna Gray asked: My ggg grandfather Wiley Wood married Nancy Harris on November 24, 1802 in Madison County, Kentucky. In searching for my Whites that I have thus traced back to John White in Mercer County, KY, wife is Cynthia/Cyntha - I found some untranscribed 1810 Mercer County census records with Prestly and Joel White on separate lines one under the other. There are notations for children and sexes, but of course no names. On a later census, I think 1830 there is also an Isaac White, again with no info on names or where they are all from. John in a later 1880 census reports that his parents are from KY and Cyntha reports that they are from KY and NC. I believe her last name to be Clemmons/Clements. John was born about 1811 which would make his parents to have been born about 1780 or so, perhaps earlier or later. Another interesting point I have discovered is that the boundary lines of the states changed from KY to IL thus even though they didn't move, their state line did. Does any of this info ring a bell for anyone? Eva

Does any one know what the status is on the A. D. White material? The last I remember they were in Aveela or something like that. I sent a memorial etc but haven't heard anything for a while. They were attempting to purchase an old RR station. Of course !!! I am sure there is something about William and James White who were in New Brighton, Beaver co, PA before coming to Gallia co Ohio (now Vinton and Meigs cos). Would really like to know what happened to all that research1 Margaret Calvin
Thanks so much for responding to my query. I have done some work in the papers. But mostly the older ones as I can't locate Williams death date. Have him on 1820 census, and can 't find him after that. Also can't locate his burial. My mother in law claimed she saw it when she was young, but we haven't been able to locate it. I really hadn't looked at the Wyman articles. They might have some clue too. And I didn't get an obit for Maggie. I'm wondering if James was just telling old man's tales. I know most Whites try to connect to Mayflower OR as someone suggested maybe on a later journey by the Mayflower?
