    3. Hi DEX; Since you have so many White's in your data base. How about a Anderson White b in 1801 N. C. . It was said that he worked in a Circus at some point early in life. It is believed that his fa. was a William and maybe his grandfather was a Joseph. He was b in Orange Co. N. C. I think . He went to Giles Co. Tnn. then to Lauderdale Co. Al. then to Grayson Co. Tx. mar Mary Ann ( Polly) Byler Davis. Her first spouse was Benjamin Davis and had 5 ch. when he died. in abt 1824. mar. Anderson White in 1825. may have moved to Mo. at some point before Tx. It was said Anderson was youngest in his family of a number of siblings. I have more but will have to look it up. 3. Still looking for a clue to my William White who left Beaver co PA for Gallia co Ohio. His son James claimed relationship to Mayflower White line. Some time ago I got the White wills from Worcester co MD. Simply because there was a William White. However, in rereading them, I remembered the SELBY name. It is a name used in this White line as is Lemuel. William Selby Sr will probated 1796, lists a son Lemuel Selby In Peggy White's will dated 1812 she lists a granddaughter named Harriett SELBY White. A will dated 1820 is for LEMUEL SELBY. Have no idea if this is coincidence or significant. When you are desparate, you'll look at anything! thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated!! 3. Ira, are you related to the Sherwood Harris line? I have traced back my Harris line via Sarah Harris daughter of Sherwood who married a Thomas Harris, then their son Samuel, m. Mary Coats, son Emery Thomas Harris, and his daughter Caroline Harris who married an Ozment. I have Harris and White in my line. From John White b. KY 1811, I'm stuck. He reports in the 1880 census that his father is from TN and his mother from NC. Other than that....I have suspicions from early Mercer Cty, KY census that John's father could be Pristle White m. Lucy Hawkins or Hezekia White m. Susannah Jackmon. My John White married Cynthia/Cyntha Clemmons, this much I do know. Do any of these names sound familiar with a John White born in KY around 1811 in particular if any of the White's you have had a son named John and they moved to KY? John was born about 1811. I found another William White who came to KY w/Daniel Boone but the John White that appears to be William's son went to OH. My John didn't move to OH, he stayed in KY so William rules him out as his father. As a side note, I have a Jemima H. McFarland who married a Wilson. Would perhaps the Jemima H. be H. for Harris? These are my line and up in the Smythe, VA area in 1860. Thanks, Eva -----Original Message----- From: white-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:white-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Ira Harris Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 7:23 PM To: White-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WHITE] Harris & White In Granville County, NC In April of 2002 Donna Gray asked: My ggg grandfather Wiley Wood married Nancy Harris on November 24, 1802 in Madison County, Kentucky. Marriage consent for the bride was given by her brother John Harris and consent was also given by Zachariah & Jemima Wilburrn. I am wondering if anyone knows the children of Jemima Harris White who married Henry White (by posting on Genforum)? Does anyone know how the Nancy Harris and her brother might be connected to jemima and Zachariah Wilburn? In Granville County, North Carolina lived the family of Sherwood Harris and his wife Jane Hudspeth. I BELIEVE that Sherwood Harris was the son of Robert Harris and his wife Elizabeth Turner. Sherwood and Jane Harris had the following children: Mary Harris , who married Absalom Hicks and died aft. 1770 in Granville County, NC. Elizabeth Harris Ann Harris ---- I THINK she may be Nancy Ann Harris, and POSSIBLY the one listed above who married Wiley Wood. Jemima Harris, who married Henry White and Zachariah Wilbourn. I have that Jemima and Henry had one daughter, Mercy White. John Harris Sarah Harris, who married Thomas Harris Sherwood Harris Jr. , who married Rebecca Wilkins and Judith Woodall. I hope this is the answer or at least gives you some leads in answering your questions. Ira L. 3. I watched the History Channel production on the voyage of the May Flower to the new world last night. Found it interesting, but was saddened that the only time a White was mentioned was the scene where William Bradford was ill and turned to an old man laying beside him (who had died) and said "Mr White?" Well for the record....William White was not an old man. He was born ca 1591 (one record gives a birth date of 10 Nov 1591 in England..not documented). So he made it to the "old" age of 28 at the time of his death. Another record says that only four adult women made it through the first winter at the Plymouth Colony. Susanna [--?--] White was one of them. By February 1621 there were only 50 survivors, adults, and children. Well kudos to our White ancestress.....she made it as a nursing mother and survived with a newborn babe, Peregrine White, and a five year old, Resolved White. As one of only four women, no wonder she married so soon, on 12 May 1621, to Edward Winslow, a later governor of the colony. Another first, (Peregrine the first child born at the colony) as theirs was the first marriage in the colony. Janet Nelson
