I am looking for any information I can get on a Charly (per 1880 Anderson, Co. SC census)(other possible spellings Charley, Charlie, Charles) Bartley (Bartlett) (a.k.a C. B.) White. There is another spelling of his first name in the 1870 census, but I do not have a copy of it and don't remember the exact spelling. DOB 1842/POB/Parents unknown Married Mary Elmira (Elvira) Sargent Children: Aaron 1861, Harlston 1862, Othella 1863, Estele 1866, Ettie 1868, Pearl 1870, Lawrence 1872, Minnie 1874 (my grandmother). C. B. White is listed as owning property in Upsher Co., TX on the 1887 and 1888 tax rolls. No further information is found on him. Mary E. subsequently went to Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Co. TX . Othella, Ettie, and Pearl were all married and living there. Harlston died Jan 29, 1907 Upsher County (a bachelor (?)) and is buried beside his mother in Shooks Chapel Church Cemetery south of Sulphur Springs. Mary died Jan 10, 1930. Othella, Ettie, and Pearl are all buried in the same cemetery. No trace of Charly. My grandmother married L. B. Hart in Gilmer, Upsher Co. TX Feb 21, 1894. They rattled around East Texas for a while and subsequently moved to Mineola, Wood Co. TX. They are buried in the Mineola City Cemetery.

Greetings all... In doing some cemetery research at one of our local cemeteries, I came across probably 10-15 Whites buried there. When I get some more time (and weather permitting), I will try to get the info off of the graves as well as gravestone/marker pictures (which I will post on www.findagrave.com, where I am recording my research). If any of you know of a relative that's buried here, let me know via email (geneo (at) thebruyere.net) who it is and I'll try to get the info for you first. Franz Bruyere Jr. researching: Sarah White (b1802, Lancaster Co ? PA) married Henry Kendig (b1800, d1881 PA)

Hi, Anita, You may have to follow some hunches on your search. The first is that the Florida health department has birth records, and I think they go back to 1930. You may need to query them before you send in the application. Also, were you officially adopted? If so, you can have the records unsealed and that perhaps identifies him. Third, you can guess where he might have lived in Florida and get the microfilm of the city directories of the period. You can also guess where the family might have lived and check the census records. If he was born early enough in 1930, he may have been in the 1930 census. (Beware of online or CD census records; frequently the transcribers misspell or completely missed names. My Herbert is in CD census as Arthur!!!) Fourth, try to get his death certificate (from California) to see if someone gave a place of birth. With the place of birth, you can try the local newspapers of the era. They often carried announcements of births. With the place of birth, you also might be able to check the local churches for a baptismal record. Lastly, try the Social Security death index, find him, then order his application. Those applications have places of birth and parents' names. Hope this is helpful. Good luck and happy hunting. I've hit a wall on my White search. I have mother Ann/Anna White (b. 1840), sons William C (b. 1863), Samuel (b. 1874), Robert (b. 1877), daughters Elizabeth (b. 1882) and Anna (unknown birth date) all born in Northern Ireland. William came to America first sometime between 1885 and 1889 and settled in Chicago, Illinois. He worked to bring his family to America by around 1895. He married Mabel Collins in 1899 and they had 5 children: William Collins, Theodore, Grace Muriel, Roger and Marjorie. I'm looking for mother Anna's maiden name, the name of her husband, actual US arrival dates..... thanks in advance!
Sure could use some help here. Is Jessie White that married Virgil Mathis the daughter of Samuel G. White or William H. White and Lura B. in 1910 they list a daughter Jessie age 1 (William & Lura) Samuel does not show on the census here. Has anyone any idea why they are only on the 1910 Census? Not on a 1920 or 1930? Any help greatly appreciated. Shirley in Oregon ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com

I went to a funeral in Troy, OK yesterday for the Ozment's and found some White tombstones. I don't think these are my line so here's the info to share: Will White May 1890 September 1960 Since all three stones were of the same make/type, I am including this info - He was buried next to Oscar Reed - Oct 1875 - June 1919 and Mack Reed - June 1873 - Apr 1950 This was in a plot away from the ones above. White - Dora 1888 - 1981 John T. 1884 - 1951 Eva
Lois, Have you tried newspapers of the time? They often have references to entire families and mention where a "newcomer" was from. If a person advertised, as a butcher shop would, they might mention "father and son" or something like that. Also, have you checked for a county/city historian in Jefferson County? Kathleen O'Donnell Grone, As far as I know we have no DNA participants from the Abraham Davis White line. All that I know about the various participants is based on what they tell me. Some send their entire family trees, while others say nothing. What I like to try to do is provide a thumbnail sketch of each DNA participant's earliest known ancestors at our website, but since we now have 95 results posted, I'm having a bit of trouble keeping up with them all. In case anyone wants to take advantage of this offer, I'm forwarding this message. The White DNA project is going pretty well. We have some 95 or so results posted. Of course we would like to find new participants, but I'm not really pushing it at this point, as we are growing at a good pace. If anyone wants to help with the DNA project, please let me know. The Box is actually the 3rd Box from the Bottom Left - then it works. ;-) Cuz Suzy Paulk1421@aol.com wrote: For those requesting assistance in finding dex22 database: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ At the bottom left corner of the screen is a box labeled or--jump to a specific database. type in dex22 and scroll down if necessary to click the GO button.
