    3. Still looking for Jessie White born 1901 in posssibly Taney County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Samuel and Nancy White. Samuel died in 1905, Nancy remarried in 1908 to William Bowman, in Stone County, MO. So Jessie White should be in a household with William Bowman in 1910, 1920 and possibly 1930. I cannot find those counties on the census on line, Stone is on line and they are not there. Does any one know where Jessie George White femail born 1901 was living in those years? Thanks so much. 1. [WHITE] Property deeds give lineage clues
    2. Melissa, I have had some luck by searching deeds where property was sold some years after a death. Sometimes, women were taken aside and asked privately if they agree to the sale. This is so that they were not influenced by their husbands. But, I will give you some examples. A few years after a g-g-grandfather died, the executor son sold some land. The deed had to list all the children--and their spouses. That helped me prove the married names of a number of the girls. In another case, when a county courthouse searched deeds for me, they came up with a new name altogether, some years after I had thought the family had left the pioneer town. This person turned out to be a second wife about whom I hadn't known. She outlived the man and apparently inherited the former homestead. The homestead was in Nebraska, and the deed said she was a resident of Georgia...I'd have never even dreamed of a Ga. connection without this deed, filed 10+ years after my kinsman's death. 3. Can some one please help, I am looking for Jessie White. She was born in either Missouri or Oklahoma, died in Hood River, Oregon. She married Virgil "Babe" Mathis. Her father was Samuel Green White her mother was Nancy Gilbert. I can not find her on Any Census. Her children were born in Ottawa County, Oklahoma . I have looked at that site in Wyandotte and found 2 school pictures of the eldest daughter Shirley Gwen Mathis at the Hockerville School. She was born in 1936. So no census for the children, Does anyone have any idea where this family was in 1920 and 1930? I can find not a sign of Jessie White.
