    2. Dear Selma, I traced my roots for many years and then stopped about 1994 and have recently started again. Here is my line that is unproven. We can use it as a guideline to look for proofs: I have this one pretty well proven: Elisha WHITE b. 1797 SC d. 1870 McMinn m. Margaret BARNETT children: John, Jesse, Elizabeth, William, Narcissa, Daniel J., Nancy C., Martha his father: John Jr., b. 1753 Granville, NC d. ca 1858 Polk TN children: John, Daniel, Elizabeth, William, Jesse b. ca 1796, SC d. 1900 at the age of 104 yrs., Elisha his father: John, Sr. b. 1730 Phil, PA d. 1819 Union SC his father Isaac Sr. b. 1700 Phil,PA d. Union SC Truthfully these are just names written on paper except for the first family group. I have no records to prove them. Your White's seem to be in the same county as mine. Maybe they are related. Kathy

    2. This is Selma and I called my sister on the date of John Sears that ran away to be in the Revolutionary war and he was born in 1760 not 1790. I guess I had written it wrong. He was born in NC. My sister said he was married to Tabitha ?. His son, my line was David b. 1771 m. Levicy Nobles. Does any one know of these people? Selma

    2. Dear Dix, It's great to hear from someone with DeKalb Co. ALABAMA connections! I'm fairly sure we are not related. I think you come from the "other" White family. The one that was there first. Does the "M" in James M. stand for Mason (Uncle Dock)? Was he the one that was a Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church and owned and operated J.M.White Gin and Lumber Company? My ggrandfather, Manuel Nathan White was b. TN 1892. He and his brother Ezzel Moved to DeKalb co. and m. in the 1920's to two Saffell girls, Emma and Birdie. They were just farmers but they helped to est. Kelly's Chapel. Do you still live in the area? I was b. in Ft. Payne. Surely we are related. Just being from that area, it seems that everyone is a cousin one way or another! Cousin Kathy, Dickinson, TX

    3. Just another thought, do you think that Ersby could be a nickname for Ursula? Dates and places are both possibilities. I've written to my distant cousin and I'll let you know where she got her information as soon as I hear from her. Have a great day. I'm going to work and think positive thoughts that we've made a connection. 3. I don'[t know whether I should get excited or not yet. When I read your post I about jumped out of my chair. Then I got our the information I had just received yesterday. It's possible. I guess we;ll have to do more checking. The information I have is Martha White b. 6/5/1834 TN d. 10/4/1894 Polk CO., TN married to Perry Isaac Womble b. 4/18/1824 Polk CO>, TN d. 2/ 1890 Polk CO., TN. Martha was listed as being the daughter of Elisha White b. 1797 , married to Ersby ? b. 1820. This is the only information I have for Martha. I'll have to check back with the person I got this from and check her source. If it's true, that our lines match, I can take you back from some of their (Martha & Perry's) children to the present. I just pray that it's correct. What area census records did you find your information? I'll get back to you as soon as I hear from my source.
