My great grandmother started life out as Annie Lee White of Texas (where I'm not sure). She was born in 1865 and died in 1953. She married James M. Gray and together they had either 9 or 11 children (I have actual names of 7 of them). We may have a connection here...and I'm still trying to sort out my notes from Dad. Seems my grandfather was a bit of an informal genealogist himself, but info is scattered. If this is a match, then you may be interested in the picture of her I have...she was 52 of the time of the photo. I'm trying to get them onto my website, but time is winning so far:-( Let me know if you have info to confirm or deny "sibling-hood" with Charlie. Oh, almost forgot. Seems my father's recollection is that Lee is a family name, so that may be a determining factor also. Sue Cancio
A friend asked me to post this here. Her email addy is Twofor2@aol.com if anyone needs it. Rilla I am originally from Maryland and I was looking for my grandparents (FOLLIN) in the Scot-Irish mix with Native Americans and pulled up the name WHITE from North Carolina (my grandparents had ties there and I imagine they came from NC originally).

Many of you on the list know I am involved with the SurnameWeb and AccessGenealogy, and of course the Discover Genealogy WebRings. SurnameWeb has just announced the following: We are making plans to unroll a researcher listing for EVERY surname on our pages (that's almost 60,000 of them!) However, we have nothing to place on these pages and need your help in documenting your genealogy research interests! We're not looking for a lot of information so adding to the form should be quick and painless for you. Here's the information we are looking for: Surname (only one) Comments (be specific, but brief) Your Name (you may leave this blank) Your Email Address (see Note below) Take a look at the new page at http://www.surnameweb.org/researcher.htm Then add your brick walls! Thanks Judy
Hi All... I have a bit of a puzzler. I seem to have a case of my ancestor's aunt marrying his father in law. Richard FORAN was born in Buffalo NY. His parents brought his family to Guelph about 1872. His parents were Michael FORAN and Elizabeth WHITE. They were catholic. Elizabeth's parents are John WHITE born England 1805 and Mary (surname unknown). Info has come to light showing that John and Mary WHITE's children were born somewhere in Canada and came to Buffalo NY after 1854 but before the 1860 U.S. census. Richard FORAN married Mary Ann SEARLE in 1883, daughter of George SEARLE. George remarried in 1885 following the death of his 1st wife, to Ann WHITE born 1852 in Weston Ontario. Her parents are listed as John WHITE and Mary DONNELLY! They were catholic too. The 1860 U.S. census shows my John WHITE having a daughter Ann born about 1854 in Canada. I have found what I think is the correct marriage record for John WHITE and Mary DONNELLY, 21 May 1839 at Saint Pauls Roman Catholic Church, Toronto. This marriage took place before any children were born according to the U.S. census. Also there is an IGI birth entry for Elizabeth WHITE born 8 Jun 1840 at Toronto, daughter of John WHITE and Mary DONLEY which seems to fit with info I have about Richard FORAN's mother Elizabeth. I know more info is needed, but do you think I can assume DONNELLY is the maiden name of Elizabeth WHITE's mother? I only found this connection by getting a copy of George SEARLE's 1885 marriage certificate to see what it said about his own parents' names. Now I think I might have an approximate location to find the WHITE line in Canada and another surname (DONNELLY) to research. (I wonder if Mary Donnelly is related to the group over in Lucan... who knows, maybe I'll find some Black Donnelly relatives!) So I guess it proves the theory that you should check all records because there is no telling where the info could lead you.
