Hi all, I have only been on this mailing list for a week or so, and was wondering if maybe by posting my lineage of White's, someone might just have a clue. I am descended from: Eliza Jane White (b: 6 Oct 1874 Dade County, Missouri - d: 12 Nov 1953 Lockwood, Missouri). She married Thomas McNeese Martin (b: 18 Feb 1870 Benton County, MO - d: 6 Jul 1936) They were married 17 Mar 1892 Eliza's parents were: James Green White (b: 20 Jan 1854 - d: 31 Aug 1909) and Laura P (b: 11 Jul 1854 MO - d: 19 Mar 1886) James Green's parents were: Ezekial Polk White (b: 1817 TN - d: 1875 Warsaw, Benton Co. MO) and Susan A. (Susannakie) Berry (b: 1846) I have a lot of confusion about this family, due to the fact that somehow through all this searching, I also have in some of my records that Thomas Cahal (T.C.) White and Mary E. Beard are the parents of James Green White. I also have a great grandmother of Eliza Jane White as a "Susahannie" Any help would be greatly appreciated Connie Bolivar http://members.xoom.com/Starkeeper *~*~*~*~*~*~ :) ~*~*~*~*~*~* :) *~*~*~*~*~*~ :) ~*~*~*~*~*~* :) *~*~*~*~*~*~ Researching the names ANDERSON, BOLIN, CONDLEY, JULIAN, MANESS, MARTIN, McCULLAH, SANSBURY, SHORT, SPARKMAN, and WHITE Since 1983 *~*~*~*~*~*~ :) ~*~*~*~*~*~* :) *~*~*~*~*~*~ :) ~*~*~*~*~*~* :) *~*~*~*~*~*~

I too am interested in the S.C. Whites. My George W. White was supposedly b. in S.C. 12 Jan. 1827. (county unknown) I have much info. on him and his children but nothing on him going back. I would very much like to connect him with parents and siblings. I first have him in 1850 census (Bastrup Co. Tx.) Then to Hopkins Co. in 1860; there he stayed and raised his family until his death on Jan.2, 1892. I would share any info. I have if I just can connect with someone. JUANITA

Hello again; I have been very interested in the recent thread of information on this list about WHITE families connected to South Carolina. Please -- keep my gggm Sarah Adessa WHITE in mind. Somewhere, in those bunches of names you may have, may lurk the clue I have been seeking for many years. No matter how many leads I have followed, the road to her parentage seems to go on forever. In case you missed my first letter -- Sarah Adessa WHITE was born about 1830, in either North or South Carolina. The discrepancies are caused by conflicting entries in census and other records. I do not know who her parents were, nor any siblings' names (with the possible exception of William, mentioned below). In 1850, Sarah was married to Charles CLEAVER and living in Northern KY on the Ohio River. They had at least two children. Living with her in the 1850 census was a William WHITE, aged 19. No clue from there. By 1855, Sarah had married Hiram POTTS, with whom there were several more children. Someone on this list mentioned a connection with boating -- Hiram POTTS was called a "steamboat man" and the men in his family were also heavily into river boating and teamstering. Sarah Adessa White Cleaver Potts died in 1900. I have names of all their children, many details after the Potts marriage. Not much earlier. One continuing clue has been the name ADESSA. It was passed to at least two grand-daughters, and I hope may show up somewhere farther back in her own family. Please keep me in mind with any possibilities. You all have much more information on your WHITE lineages than I do. Best wishes, Ann Bergelt Florida, too!
Bill, Just curious, is "GRANT" a family name that you know of? Or is it a maiden name passed down as a middle name? The reason I ask is my gg grnmthr's. name was Elizor/Eliza GRANT b: 1819 GA., d: 1901, married to Jefferson WHITE, b: 1813 South Carolina, d:1863..... curious, Barry WHITE "William G. Hi, Cindy. Thanks for your note. I'm always happy to hear from people who are working on the people I am. My James White's grandson and my great grandfather, William Grant White, was a sailor in the war between the states. He served on the gunboat "Sampson" in the Savanah River. He was joined in that by his brother, another James White! Their father was Gaberiel White, son of the frist James. My grandmother was Jesse Anne White, who married John Thomas Mitchell, my grandfather. We'll keep looking. Bill (William Grant Mitchell)
Hi, Selma. This matches in date of birth, but npt in the person he married and not in date of death or place of death. I'm afraid they are different James Whites. Regrads, Bill
Selma, I am curious to know... Do you have a list of James' children???? Bill, I think that I talked to you regarding James White some time last year... I have just discovered the White mailing list and thought I would give it a try... I have kept in mind your search for your James... and although I have not found anything to confirm it... I believe that there may be a possibility that the two are related... :)I also read today that there was a Henry White from South Carolina that was a Col. in the Revolutionary War... I am really interested in finding out more information regarding him as there are several Henry Whites in my family... Am also curious to know if any of the Whites on the list have the name of Burchill used as there middle name... I have four generations with that name as a middle name... NO idea where it came from... Cindy Mc ----- Original Message ----- From: William G. Candy. I, too, would like to find a James White of South Carolina, but one who was born many years earlier. My James must have been born abt. 1790, since he died in 1836. He took land in Morgan Co., GA in about 1810 or ealier, and married Hannah Hughey on 8 Dec. 1811 in Morgan Co., GA. I believe that his father was Joseph White of S.C., since there is a record of Joseph giving his son James some slaves. Perhaps your James was a descendant of my James White. Bill
I am looking for James White... I have him in the 1860 census of Clerendon Co. South Carolina,pg 195 with his wife Savilla Thames White and his children... Cornelia... and Joseph Burchill White... am looking for his mother and father and would be interested in any White connections in South Carolina...
