Sandy, I was very interested to see your message. My husband also has a WHITE line from Darlington Co. I think they have always lived in the area that is now Lamar and Windamtown. Maria White (dates of birth and death unknown) had a son with a Mr. Mangum. I don't know his first name. He was a white man and an overseer on a farm or a plantation. He was also a Mason. Maria White and Mr. Mangum had a son, Augustus White. He was born in 1859 and died in 1913. Augustus White married Eliza Deschamps. Eliza passed away at a young age. Augustus remarried to Eliza's sister, Alice. With the two wives, Augustus fathered 25 children. The children of Eliza and Augustus are Lawrence, Gussie, Nettie, Lilia, Johnny, Mazon, Rosa, Eva, George, Simon, Maggie, Charles, Carrie, Bessie, and Bertha. Carrie White, on e of the younger children was born in 1896. She is my husband's grandmother. Carrie married Collins Rivers. They had two daughters, Sallie and Virginia. Carrie also died at a young age and Collins remarried and moved to WV. My husband says his mother, Sallie always claimed that her White line had Cherokee blood. She passed away in 1986, and I've been unable to confirm this with any other family members. As we're planning a family reunion for July, I really want to find some more information! Am looking for information on the John WHITE that died in Washington Co, TN. His wife's name was Ann and his tombstone at New Bethel Ch says that he was born 15 Jul 1754 and died 25 Aug 1796. I have his children but would like to know more about his ancestry and migration to TN. It appears that he was one of the Scotch-Irish that settled in TN in the late 1700's and he probably came from PA. He may be a descendant of the brothers Hugh and Moses White that settled in Lancaster Co, PA but no known connection has as yet been found. Any suggestions on the movements and ancestry of John will be appreciated.

John, I would like to know the names of his children, to see how they stack up namewise. It's just possible that this John was also a son of Richard, whose children were born in Loudoun Co, Va. These children all scattered down into the Tn area. The time is right...but if he named children Richard, Samuel, William, Rebecca, etc it seems a little suspicious! With all this activity on the WHITE line, Ill add my own problem. John WHITE of Fredericksburg, MD married No.1 wife Miss Bren and they had 3 children..in the early 1700's...(1) John White, (2) Nancy White, (3) Nicholas White. Miss Bren died. John White then remarried to a Miss Arnold. The had 4 chidlren...(1) James White, (2) George, (3) Archibald, and James. Arnold White the fourth child of John White and Miss Arnold then had 2 children..(1) James White and (2) John White.... John White,son of Arnold White, moved to Fayette Co. Pennsylvania, and married Hannah Straughn, in 1773. Hannah was the daughter of Jacob and Christina Purcell Straughn. a very prominent family...
