I don't have the name of Berry, but if it's of any help, the White's who went out of Loudoun Co, Va down to NC/Tn had a female who mar a Byers and moved to Coatsville, Ill. Somehow there was another connection found of Whites and Evans of that same group down in Ala. Jemima White, b May 9, 1787, was dtr of Joseph White out of the Loudoun Co, Va group who mar a Daniel Wright. They had a dtr named Elizabeth who mar a John Elzie White b June 7, 1812 in Loudoun Co, Va. (This is the only other place that I have ever seen the name of Elzie, which happens to be the name of my dad, Thomas Elzie White, b 1899 in Texas.) Anyway, its all in my head, as I have chased Whites all around the country, and they were prolific and went in many directions. But I tend to believe when you find several names together, as you listed the Byers, Whites and Wrights, there must be a river of connections running back! Does anyone out there know, if these records come under the "Freedom of information Act"? Is this for all records or are they going to say records are closed for 50 years, 30 years etc...? What does this do to adopted children looking for their birth parents? Also does this just give more power to the government? First marriage licences....What next?......Birth certificates....land records....death certificates....tax records... No public access to records.....no government of the people. One more government control, what next? Happy Digging and Hunting (if they will let you see the "public records") Catherine Leinbach

This came from another list......VERY IMPORTANT Hello list members searching Ohio records for marriage information: This comes from the April 2000 Mahoning County Chapter of the OGS newsletter: "Introduced into the Ohio House of Rep. is a bill to amend the Ohio Revised code that should have genealogists up in arms. 'It states, in part, that upon receiving a request for records pertaining to the issuance of marriage licenses, a probate court shall furnish copies of the records as provided under section 149.43 of the Ohio Revised code, except that the court shall delete or otherwise remove any social security numbers and the maiden names of the mothers of the parties to a marriage so that they are not available to the person requesting the records, except for use by the department of human services, law enforcement personnel, and if ordered by the court in a civil or criminal trial.' If any individual genealogist feels that this would impact their ability to do genealogical research, a letter voicing your concern would be in order here. The address is: The Honorable____, Ohio Representatives, 77 South High St., Columbus, Ohio 43266-0603. Or www.house.state.oh.us/voice/index. html. Representative Ron Hood from Canfield is a co-sponsor of this bill." Pass this on to any other lists you are subscribed to if you think others might also be seeking marriage information in Ohio records.
