I do not know these Whites, and names do not fit my line. However, I will say that an old family tale was that Jesse James came to see my Grandfather in Uvalde, Texas somewhere just prior to 1900....of course Jesse was supposed to be dead, and my family always heard, it was not true because of the visit. It was further related that my Grandfather's mother, who was Mariah Munday(Cherry) White, had been left a widow after the Civil War when Capt Absalom White of Tippah Co, Ms died of injuries suffered during the war. According to records found, they had been large land owners, but after his father died, my GF b 1859 and a young teen, took his mother Mariah and a sister to Memphis, Tn where he pedaled milk until he could make enough money to bring them to Texas. But GF said when they still lived on the plantation, Jesse and his boys would come by and his mother would feed them, and she said if they didn't hurt her, she had no problem with them...She treated them nice and they treated her nice! My GF was about 17 when he arrived in Hill Co, Tx. Somewhere there was a Mo connection, but I have been unable to unravel it. I do know that connecting familes in Hill Co came from Mo...the Ince...McMillan family. For what a little gossip is worth. I wish I could help you as I, too, have a Thomas White but mine went to Canada frrom NY and died in Maine in 1862 - wrong area, sorry. Jean R
Nathaniel is the right age to have been a son of Richard White b abt 1726 and married to a Rebecca (Canthron?). They had known sons of Wm B. b Mar 4, 1741 -42 and Richard White, Jr , plus a Samuel White born Jan 4, 1750/51. Wm B is my line and he named a son Nathaniel, who was born abt 1782....and is also thought to have had a son Nathan b abt 1773. These were all born in Loudoun Co, Va (which at one point was Orange Co??). Am sure that Richard had other children born about the time frame of your Nathaniel...and there had to be someone for my Wm B to name his son after. The Whites passed down names and there were no originals! <G> Jean mccoy@gvtc.com CHeath8448@aol.com wrote: > Looking for parents/siblings of Nathaniel White b. 1755, Hanover VA. Hi, my grandmother's great grandma, Martha Ward Crocker White married Thomas White (born 1815),after her first husband died. Apparently Thomas had been married before also, to a Airheart?. This Thomas is the grandson of the Thomas White from Huntingdon, Broad Top, PA area. Martha had two children when she married Thomas White, Susan and Hester, I descend from Susan. Thomas and Martha went on to have several more children, Samuel Reuben, who died in Andersonville Prison, Hayes Baxter, William Lee, Elizabeth, who died as a teenager, Ira Watson, Franklin Asbury, and George Sherman. My Grandmother told me that her grandmother Susan told her that the family named their boys with names from both the south and the north, so as not to offend or show favoritism during the years before the war. Susan would have been an older stepsister to these boys. This family settled in Jefferson County, in Lockridge Township, Iowa. Thomas and Martha and Elizabeth are buried there, is there anyone related to this particular line of Whites? Betty Higgs Howlett

Sorry, I can't help on Mary Ann. My Grandmother Emmaline had three sisters, Martha, Nancy and Narcissi. I have 8 Marys and 1 Mary Ann, in my file,,,but not yours. I'm sure you know about all the different White families. Mine lived in the Sulligent & Vernon, Lamar County, Al. area,,,There was another White family south of Vernon, some with the same names, but were not related, as far as we know. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
Hello, I saw your query on your Grandmother , Emmaline White, born 1863 in Lamar County, Alabama, and I am wondering if there is a possible connection with my MARY ANN WHITE born August 02, 1861, and died April 15, 1901. She married GEORGE COLLIER HALL, son of ANDREW HALL and MARY ENTREKIN. I know Mary Ann was born in the area; but exactly where I don't know, and I think she had some connection with the last name Miles. Mary Ann had a brother William also. I realize this is sketchy but thought since Emmaline was born in 1863 possibly they could be sisters. Does this information relate to anything you might have? Thanks so much N.
