    1. [WHITE] Candlesticks
    2. I have a strange request and hope someone might help. My wife's grandmother was married in 1918 and as a wedding gift she received from her grandmother a pair of Copper/Brass Candlesticks. They were supposed to have been in the family along time. What makes these more important is that they have stamped on the bases; William White 1619. Now as inexperienced as I am, I don't know if this was a company or an ancestor that made these and is this the date that they were made? If anyone has a clue please let me know. Mike

    1. [WHITE] RE: White/May/Evans-Canada/mid 1800's on
    2. Hello, I am new to this list and wanted to post my interests. I am doing research for the Evans family whose ancestors came from Wales/England>Ontario, Canada>Manitoba, Canada>California>?? Elizabeth May (dob abt 1827) married John Evans (dob 1831) in Huron, Ontario, Canada in Apr,1853. Their children were: Hannah, William, Evan, Isaac, John T. Elizabeth and Joseph. John Evans died in 1861 and Elizabeth remarried Thomas White (dob abt 1821??) in 1864. Thomas had several children and Thomas and Elizabeth had at least one of their own, Amanda Jane. (Thomas previous wife was Martha, who is buried in Huron County, Ontario) History says that Thomas White moved his new family to the Snowflake area of Manitoba, Canada. When?? But, they evidently moved back to Ontario County. When?? Does this sound familiar to anyone at all. Sure would love to make some connections. Thank you, Diane

    3. And always keep your eye out for an unusual given name. Years ago, I was searching for my Whites in the census of a county that I found written on the back of an old photo. I found a huge family of Whites and when I saw that one of the children was named Edward Ocean White all sorts of bells went off in my brain. Suddenly, I remembered my grandfather telling me of his great uncle who was born at sea and named Edward Ocean White. With that tidbit, I was able to get documents and make contacts that opened up that family's history as if their name had been much more unusual. Unfortunately, in the arrogance of youth, it never occurred to me to write down all the wonderful tales my grandfather told me. I thought they were so fascinating that I could never forget them. Alas, I did not realize that my brain would get so cluttered with other minutiae that I would not always be able to retrieve what I wanted as time went on. The White name is 14th in frequency in this country. I've been looking for WHITES for a couple of years and have only made contact with a couple in our line of Whites descended from John White Sr. born in Ireland in 1720. But a couple of those contacts have been very fruitful. SO DON'T GIVE UP. BOB WHITE
