Mike, First let me say I am NOT AN EXPERT, But my guess would be these candlesticks have been handed down from generation to generation, probably mother to daughter through the yrs,as a wedding gift. I have found during the yrs of 1600,families gave there most prized possessions as gifts to the one whom was getting married, sometimes being gold, silver,or in some cases live stock (Marres, cows, goats, sheep)And of course land at times. This is a family heirloom, keep it treasure it for being part of the family. Kathy
I was reading Country Weekly today and On page 70 under birthdays Is Jessi Colter (Wife of Country Great Waylon Jennings) And it says she took her stage name from her uncle Jesse,A cohort of the famed bandit Jesse James. Jessi Colter was born Miriam Johnson in Phoenix Arson, This may be a source for the ones searching for the Whites that rode with the James boys. Kathy
Don't see any links yet, but keep your fingers crossed. I'm still digging. And the more of us out here looking for those names, the sooner we'll find them (I hope!) Regards, Sherry
Hi Eva, does your Thomas happen to have a son named Samuel by any chance? Sherry at Mustang69290@aol.com
Sherry, my White's came from Ohio in 1822 where Thomas White married Susannah (Susan) and they had 8 children there before going to La Grange County, Indiana sometime after 1830 and Thomas is listed as a physician on the 1850 census record. from Ava at Avajill@aol.com
Mike: As a White, I would love to have them! <G> As somewhat of an artist doing some oil paintings, mostly landscape, and what I know about it, I would think that Wm White CRAFTED those in 1619. If you ever trace your wife's grandmother back to a Wm White, be sure to let us on the list know which Wm!! Very interesting! Hello Mike: Those old 400 year old candle holders are not worth anything,,,what'ya take for'um. LOL,,,,but remember some of my Whites rode with Jesse James. ha WOW!!!what a family hairloom you have there. Those were probably made in the "old county". Ireland, England, or where ever your family came from. If the name, William White, and the date are stamped in the metal, I bet he made them are had them custom made. Either way, they are priceless. There are books and web sites on collectables, antiques, and such , that might have some information on them. Good luck,,,,Red Anthony ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
