Hi Janet and List, I'm interested in the ancestry of your WHITE line that found it's way to CA. My WHITE connection is through my dad was Earl Ellsworth CASWELL. My Earl came to CA in the 1930s, so I had to stop and blink when I read your message!!! He had a "great-Grandpa White" from Rhode Island and I've been trying to track down that line. So far his WHITE line looks like this: Mary Elnora White 1864-1897, R.I./MA who married Herbert CASWELL Samuel Eldredge White 1845-1930 R.I. who married Julia HICKS Richmond White (or WIGHT) 1825-1888 R.I. who married Ann Eldredge Eber White b. 1800??? who married Betsey ???? Any connections? Thanks! Judy
There have been all sorts of theories on the paternity of William White and of his wife, Susannah. She might be a Fuller but have not seen any proofs that convinced me. Ditto on William......some say from Wales. Others that a son, possibly of a bishop, John White of England. My mother always said her mother (a DAY) was Welsh and Mom was more so, so guess by that she might have been alluding to Whites being from Wales per family tales. I know Mom had "second sight" which is a Welsh trait, as woke screaming the night my brother was shot by a Japanese sniper from a palm tree on Tarawa. She described it all....even to his buddy, another medic, grabbing a rifle from a dead marine and shooting the sniper out of the tree. When he returned home, Mom knew more about the incident than he did, as he was in shock and out of it, after the second of four bullets hit him in the lung. He did confirm that his buddy got the sniper as Mom had described, as he was told about it on the hospital ship weeks later by his buddy. Hence I tend to go along with the Welsh theory, but who knows, it might have all come down from the Day side. Mom never explained what she meant by "more so." I have been researching at New England Historic Genealogical Society site, but have not been concentrating on the White line. They are very careful on the documentation, so if find something there, I will believe it. Good Morning, Heidi No, not our line. But thanks for responding to my post. Guess I should have been more specific....have family back to William White of the Mayflower. Earl's dad was Arthur A White, but he died in Wisconsin about the time Earl came to California in the 1930's. Earl worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in California. Seeking descendents of my great uncle, Edward Irving White, who died in Iowa in 1951 at the home of his daughter, Bessie Louise (White) Brown, in West Bend Iowa. Her spouse was Net Anson Brown. I do not know if the Browns had any children or not. Edward White's other children were: Lloyd White, who I think I found on the 1930 census in Webster Co IA with two children: J.Coleman and Janet, but need to confirm that that Lloyd was son of Edward Irving. Alice M who married a Claud Seeley and had a son, Forest, I think in Nebraska. Edward and his wife took in my grandpa White when he was supposedly orphaned. Thanks for any clues. Janet (Bruce) Nelson
I have lost contact with my Uncle Earl's family since his death in 1966 in the Walnut Creek/Concord area and the death of my mother in San Jose, CA. His children were born between 1922 and 1933, two sons and two daughters: Earl Adair Jr but went by Errol, married Helga _____; Had pilots license and worked for one of the big airlines out of San Francisco International Airport. He used to take my first husband, Bob Hanley, and me up in his private plane out of a Palo Alto area airport. James Michael White, last known in Walnut Creek Frances White, don't know her married name Beverly J White Don't know her married name. Since retiring I am into genealogy and have the family back to William White and found the second family of our mutual great grandpa White. Would like to pass on the information to my relatives. I am researching WILLIAM WHITE who, I believe, lived in Dorset UK. My research so far has determined that a WILLIAM WHITE married an ELIZABETH SMITH on 03/Feb/1800 in Milborne St Andrew UK. I believe this WILLIAM WHITE was the son of another WILLIAM WHITE and JANE BRINE and was christened 05/Sept/1779 in Fordington Dorset UK, this information was from British Vital Records CD 2nd Edition FHL Film 1279497. I believe that WILLIAM WHITE and JANE BRINE married 15/Sep/1778 in Fordington Dorset UK again this information was from British Vital Records CD 2nd Edition FHL Film 1279497. I am having problems identifying who The earlier WILLIAM WHITE's parents were.If some one has access to the FHL Films or the parish records of Fordington could they look up these details to see if there is information that will identify who WILLIAM WHITE'S parents were. Thanks for your assistance Brian White, in hope

Does anyone have an Eber White, b. circa 1800? I do not have much on my White line, but according to another researcher (from James N. Arnold's Vital Records, Pg. 34, Scituate, RI.) Eber Wight and Betsey [Unknown] had son Richmond Wight b. 28 Aug 1825. The LDS site says they also had "Devilla" and "Fitts" but they don't give any source for that info. Richmond married Anne Paine Eldredge, daughter of Samuel A. Eldredge and Tabitha Eldred. Later generations spelled the name WHITE instead of WIGHT. Is WIGHT just an alternate spelling? In research online, it appears that the Eldredge line is from William of Yarmouth and in looking at Yarmouth records, I found Peregrine White. Any connections? Thanks, Judy
