I have an Elizabeth White who married Joel Westfall Jr, 4 Jan 1798 in Randolph Co WV. They lived in Buckhannon WV, near where she died 16 Jul 1820. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Wallace and William "Billy" White, d. 8 Mar 1781 in Buckhannon (among first pioneers there). I have a colorful rendition of a story about this Billy and his wife...but there was one key piece of info...that there were three brothers who came from Scotland... William, Jonathan and David. "Jonathan went south and was never heard from again...but William and David settled near Winchester VA" William and Elizabeth must have had at least one son, as she refers to living with him on Hickory Flat (near Buckhannon). The story I have is a recounting of her telling to her great grandson...reportedly when she was 102 years old, and he was 7(abt 1826). If you want to read it, I can email it to you...it must be said that Joel (the great grandson) was a well known story teller too! All I have is that Issac (or Isaac) White was born a Hitchcock; his fiancee, Abigail Virginia Coffin, persuaded him to change his name to White before they were married. Issac died in 1874. One of their children was Stephen Garner White b. 1825, d. 1878. He was my great grandfather. Would really like to know more about the Hitchcock line. Seeking info on John White born 1888/89 in KY. I have no idea where in KY, I have a census record of him in 1930 Russell Co. VA. John White 41 Myrtle 27 David 17 Mary V. 11 Catherine 08 Jeanetta 07 Roby D. 04 and 7 months Dorothy E. 01 and 11 months Everyone except John was born in VA, John is listed as being born in KY. It would seem that John was married before, because his son David is 10 years younger than his wife. So he may have married in KY and but she would have died in VA, that is where David is listed as being born. The daughter Mary V. may also be daughter of a first wife. I have asked all the family, and they did not know that David was not Myrtles son. But the records show that she would have not been at the age to conceive, so there had to be another wife for John. PLEASE I really need help here, I keep coming up at deadends. My father a son of Roby D. was only a few weeks old when his father was murdered and he knows nothing about his fathers family.
