Seeking information on Grover Cleveland White, living abt 1900 in Harrisgrove, Calloway Co, KY. He had a son Robert Edward White, b:5 Mar 1907 in Harrisgrove, Calloway Co, KY. Father of Grover Cleveland was Francis White. Father of Francis White was William Sanford White. Seeking information on all 3 of these men. Thanks, Kay in MI
Nathan and his brother Liberty White left Gloucester town RI (now Burrillville Township RI) by wagon in 1804 and settled in Pitcher, Chenango CO. NY. Nathan was born between 1770 and 1775 and I do not have the birthdate for Liberty. Nathan married Betsy Dye daughter of William Dye a NY neighbor who was born in 1783. Nathan died between 1830-1840 as his widow was in the 1840 census. Betsy died of apoplexy 11 Mar 1850 in Pitcher, NY. They had 11 children namely, Sally, Leonard, Roswell, Hiram, Harriet, Mary, Caroline Belinda, Elizabeth, Hannah, and George who inherited the family farm. Liberty White married Monema Lamphier b. 1783 dau. of Benjamin Lamphier and Mary Elizabeth Dye. They had several children including Liberty jr. and I believe Nathan. Both Nathan and his brother Liberty wer buried on the family farms but the site is unmarked. Most of this info is from letters in my possession from Georges descendents plus land records, mortality index of 1850 from Pitcher NY and census data. I have more information including family stories etc. and would be happy to share. I am looking for Nathan and Liberty's parents and would appreciate any help. Jason Stevens
Tom, Joshua White (b. Chester Co., SC), my gt grandfather, was the son of Thomas White (d. 1831, Chester Co., SC). Thomas was the son of Hugh White (d. Chester Co., SC, 1801). Hugh was the son of Thomas White (d. 1778, Lancaster Co., PA). Hugh and his son, Thomas, were millers on Fishing Creek, Chester Co., and in 1844 Thomas' family sold the mills and moved to Benton Co., AL. Hope this helps. Paul R. White [email protected]
Dear Santa, For Christmas, I would like to find my White ancestors. I am looking for a White family that may have come form Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina or who knows where. By the 1760s, this family was living in the land that became Tennessee. The given names for males in this family are John, Thadeus, Samuel and perhaps Willis, although I think the name Willis Chandler comes from a female line that married into the White family. If you know of someone researching a White family in which these given names were commonly used, or of someone researching a White family that were early settlers of Tennessee, please put their name and address in my Christmas stocking, so we can correspond. Thank, Marleen

I am looking for Caroline White who married Joe Evin Haney in the 1850s. Their first child, Mary, was born in 1856 and Martha in 1858 in TN before moving to TX. Frances Harriett was born 1860 and Johanna in 1863 in TX. Joe died on way home (measles) in 1863 for birth of daughter. Caroline died in childbirth so there were not pension request, etc. I have no name for her parents (or his) although Caroline's mother married Joe's father in their later years. Caroline had two sisters - Lizzy and Fanny. One of these sisters married a General or other high ranking CSA officer. Any help would be appreciated! Listers, I am interested in WHITE's from Delaware in the colonial period. I have a Joshua White, born c. 1775 in Mispillion, Kent County Delaware and a son Clement, born 1812, possibly in the same location. Any information? Regards, John Farrall Burke, Virginia
Your query piqued my curiosity. My Whites don't fit any of these, but my hubby's family has a Perry line out of Spotsylvania VA who migrated to Henry County KY after the Revolution. (Stopping at Bryans Station and Fayette and Woodford Counties for a few years.) What got me going on your post is one branch married into Brewers, another into Barretts. Spouse of one was Gerald Gaines Barrett, a Union officer, who died in the Civil War. Perhaps we can exchange some information to see if any ties. I have nothing more on the Barrett line, only his death date, August 26, 1864 in Atlanta GA. His widow settled in Scott Co Indiana and remarried to a Perry cousin who had served in the Confederacy. I don't know Kentucky well enough to know if Taylor or Green Counties are near Henry County. Hello, Barbara I have not run into a Nathan or Liberty White. My Whites never were in New York State or Illinois, so can't make a connection. Closest was Edward's son Lloyd who was in La Porte, Indiana when his dad died. But I did not track any of the siblings of Edward's Dad who was one of 12 children, all born in Massachusetts. So could have been a cousin, but who knows. Sorry I was not more help. Hi Marna, As far as I know, none of Edward I White's family were in Illinois. His dad was John Walker White, b. Massachusetts, and before him, Phineas White. John migrated to Wisc., the only one of that family to do so, and Edward lived on the homestead in Wisc. till 1894, then on to Iowa. Hi all, I was hoping someone was researching Whites from Nottinghamshire, England or Victoria, Australia. Please get in touch if you are. Cheers Margot Gladstone, QLD Australia
re: the White surname. A genealogist who wrote me in response to my query said her husband, being Danish, said that White in Danish would be Hvit or Hviit. My ancestor was a sea captain White. Unfortunately i do not know his first name yet or parents or the name of or place where his ship wrecked. He stayed and met and married in Maine where the family stayed. I don't even know what year and have had no success in finding it out. Any help would be appreciated. Virginia Holt Ferrante. (This White married into my grandmother's family Herrick somewhere along the line) A very Merry Ckhristmas and Happy New Year to all.
Seeking descendents of Edward I White who died in West Bend Iowa in Feb. 1951 at the home of his daughter, Bessie L (White) Brown. She married Net Anson Brown . Per Edward's obituary he had eight grandchildren, so some may be Brown. His other daughter was Alice M (White) Seeley who lived in Hastings Nebraska. She married Claude Seeley and had at least one child, Forest Seeley, born before the 1930 census. Have the family back to the Mayflower, and would like to share with my White/Seeley/Brown cousins. Hello, List. I thought perhaps someone out there might be able to help me push my White line back a ways. My oldest know White ancestor was James White, born about 1789 in S.C. He married Hannah Hughey in Morgan Co., GA in 1811. He either got land through one of the GA land lotteries, or was given such land by his father. I understand his father was Joseph White who lived in S.C., and who gave his son, James 4 slaves while James lived in Morgan Co., GA. One note I have says Joseph was born in York, S.C. in 1770 . That's all I know of Joseph. James' and Hannah's son was Gabriel White, who married Virginia Taylor on Fe. 5. 1835 in Morgan Co., GA. Their son was William Grant White, a Civil War sailor on the gunboat Sampson in the Savanah River. He married Alice Marion Jones Dec. 19, 1871 in Morgan Co., GA. Their daughter, Jesse Ann White, was my grandmother. Any information, especially about Joseph White and his ancestors, would be appreciated. Bill Mitchell
I am researching a line of White's in Ohio but have one born 1876 that is missing, have his parents, siblings and grandparents. I know this White family lived in Blackford Co., Indiana on the 1880 census. He was Jesse M. White b. 1876 s/o Isaac b. in VA. believe he was in the Columbus, Franklin Co. area approx. 1908 due to city directories. I don't know if he used another name. Have info, willing to share.
