I am seeking any information whatsoever about Dr. John White (middle name probably Newton), b.Lincoln County TN about 1828, son of Willis J. White and Elizabeth Gibson. Appears as male child in censuses for 1830 and 1840, but nothing thereafter. I have an unsigned, undated family letter that identifies him as the oldest son, wife unknown, but father of six children: Oscar, Marshall, Lou, Mary, Dolph and Johnny. I have a photograph identified as Dr. John White, apparently taken late in life so he probably survived Civil War. I’ve searched deceased physicians directories without luck. Any suggestions for finding more about this ancestor and/or his descendants will be deeply appreciated.

Looking for information on Dabney White and his wife Patsy found in 1807in Fluvanna Co VA. when he purchased 45 acres of land in Louisa Co VA from Hezekiah Faris and Nancy, his wife. In 1810, he sold 50 acres in Louisa Co to Paul Uleyate. What is his relationship to William White of Louisa Co VA? What is Patsy's surname? Thanks, Bea

His parents do show up on the 1910 census still in Lawrence Co., only to have moved to Black River Twp. by this time. This is when I lose track of their son Thomas. I've "rescued" an old letter written by Lester W. WHEATLEY of Anita, Iowa to his cousin Herman WHITE of Williamstown, Massachusetts in 1872. The letter reads: Letter to: Mr. Herman WHITE Williamstown, Mass Dated: February 4th, 1872 at Anita Cousin Herman: I received your written in Williamstown, so you got froze out in Chicago. I thought you would get sick of it before spring when I was there, it must have been rather cold. Working out side being on the Lake Shore it has been rather cold here it has been the worst winter so the old settlers say for ten years. They are having a nice winter in Wisconsin so they say at home. I got a letter from John last week, he said he saw M and had a chance to ? which he kindly accepted. I suppose you remember the time we was to Christmas that was what I had refferenced to the same M you called. So you can just imageon he is one of the lost sheep of Isrel or going to be. O you wanted to know if there was any old Lager to be had, there was when I came, it is shut up now the men did not have enny license and they was aprocicated and had a fine to pay. So you see there is one thing we are wiser of. I am going to school we are leavin a very good school ther is a good deal of enjoyment for yong folks their was a leap year party a few nights ago. I got an invitation from a yong lady in town a mer Chants daughter. I tell you what Herman we had fun they firnished team and Bugy came and got the boys. Just done things up Brown. I enjoy myself mutchly. I aint at all sorry for coming out here. I guess they miss one constantly at home especty Orange in the Lumber woods. Why dont harrison write to me the way he promised in when he left Ellisville. Did you get my letter in Chicago. All news is getting rather scarce give my respects to Anta and harrison, be a good bow and keep your knose clean, write soon. Lester W. WHEATLEY what appears where Ive noted ? doesnt look to be letters, but rather a symbol of some sort Based on limited research I believe that the author of the letter was Lester Warner WHEATLEY b. 18 Sept 1853 in Hardwick, Vermont and d. in Atlantic, Iowa. Lester was the son of John Andrew WHEATLEY (b. 1816 in Hardwick, VT and d. 1891 in Marne, IA) and Charlotte E. SKINNER (b. 1827 in Bakersfield, VT and d. 1905 in Marne, IA). Lester Warner WHEATLEY had 6 siblings including Mary Jane; Lottie Etta; Summer Hale; Lydia; John Otis; and Orange W. WHEATLEY. Four of the WHEATLEY children were born in Hardwick, VT and the other 3 in Montpelier, WI. Lester married Laura SHEFFER (b. 1854 in Mercer Co., PA) at Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin and had 12 children including, Ida Ann; Lottie Mae; Etta Blanche; Frank Lester; Lester Harrison; Joseph Henry; Jennie May; Deane M.; Susan Jane; John McKinley; Walter Benjamin; and Grace Laura WHEATLEY. All 12 WHEATLEY children were born in Atlantic, IA between 1874 and 1898. The 1880 census of Brighton, IA included Lester W. WHEATLEY and his wife Lorah WHEATLEY along with two sons, Frank (age 5) and Joseph (age 2), and one daughter, L. WHEATLEY (age 2 months). Lester lists his parents as born in CT and MA respectively with Lorah's parents noted as both having been born in PA. I also find Herman L. WHITE b. 1 July 1845 at Williamstown, MA to parents Timothy Gove WHITE and Arvilla SKINNER. Herman married Kate MOORE on 28 Jan 1872 at Pownal, VT, Kate was b. 1849 at Pownal, VT and d. 27 Jan 1906, Herman died 15 May 1891 in Boston, MA. Herman & Kate had a son Herman L. WHITE II b. 19 June 1874 in North Adams, MA. I'm hoping to locate someone from one of these families so that this wonderful old family letter can be returned to the family. If you are member of either family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

April, The death records should have the names of parents, where they were born and where parents were born, name of cemetery where buried, etc. It would be the best place to start. You probably can get those at The Wayne Co., Mo. Health Department for about $10-12. Or the Missouri State Archives might have them. Winnette --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I am trying to trace my lineage but have hit many stumbling blocks. My parents were divorced when I was three and most of my relatives that I knew have passed away. I am looking for any information regarding the following people: Virgil White married Iva Rievley, 22 April 1929. Both are from Chaonia, Missouri in Wayne County. They had three children: Virgil Eugene White (my father) born 24 Nov 1928 in Poplar Bluff, Mo died 22 Nov 1994 in Gassville, Arkansas in Baxter County. Junior White (dates unknown) and Gerald White (dates unknown). Virgil Eugene White married Shirley Mae Marah on 19 Jul 1949, in Piggot, Arkansas and divorced 25 Jun 1956, in St.Louis,Mo. They had two children: April Gene White born 8 April 1953 and Michele Gene Nowotny born 17 Sep 1954. Virgil married Vivian Searse on 18 Aug 1956 in St. Louis, Mo. This is all the actual information that I have proof of and as stated before, have many stumbling blocks. I could use any help to get this going in the right direction. Thank you for any assistance you can give. April White Ridings
Hi List, It has been a long time since I posted my White family wants <smile> so thought I would do it once again. William White according to an 1880 MO. census said his father was born in MD. and his mother in Mass. Have never been able to find them but below are William's two families that I have found so far. Wm's. first. wife's name was Frances Rogers. She married Wm. in Indiana in 1846. First daughter, Caroline b. in IN., 2nd & 3rd daughters, Sarah and Frances L. both born in ARK. before 1853. 2nd. wife Mary Ann WILLIAMS WHITE married Wm.in Missouri in 1857 and they had 8 children: George W. Dora Mabel Edwin L. Charles B. Elsie Melvin Lulu - these children were all born between 1859 and 1874. If you can help in anyway I would be so delighted. Dottie in Calif.

I checked some things out and can not come across the Chapel. However the area of Cassville is still rather rural for New Jersey. Therefore there could be a historic sign or something there. One not Whitesville really is not that close to Cassville. Mapquest says 33minutes in what universe I do not know. The trip is about 45 minutes to an hour because it is rather rural out there and Whiteville is more near a city area. I do not know if you have checked the Monmouth County Historical Society but it would be a good shot. http://www.monmouth.com/~mcha3/. There seems to be a lot of historical info on this site. I will be heading up that was on an excursion in the spring. I will keep your info with me and let you know if I find out anything. Joanna Swank: Thanks ,,There seams to be a church records there that tells about James R. White family connection that go back to the 800's in England families. This is what I have been looking for.
