I am a great-granddaughter of Julia Imogene Halford (31 Jan 1867 - 22 Nov 1908), who was born somewhere in SC (acc. to 1870 and 1880 censuses), died in Greenwood Co., SC. She married the Rev. George Robert Whitaker (Methodist Episcopal, South) in 1888, at her family home in what is now Jasper Co., SC. (family written source) They had the following children: Clarissa Whitaker 5 Sep 1889 - 6 March 1958 m. Thomas Bruce sometime in 1920s(?) They had one child, (the Rev.)Charles Robert Bruce (resident of FL) Julia Whitaker 24 Dec 1890 - (d. in 1970s or early 1980s) Inez Whitaker 3 Feb 1892 (died in early 1920s in northern FL, of TB)(unmarried) Travis Whitaker (f) 6 Jul 1897 - (d. in 1970s or early 1980s) Lorenzo Robert Whitaker 22 Jan 1899 - Feb 1961 (My grandfather) Imogene ("Jean") Whitaker 11 Dec 1901 - (d. in 1970s or early 1980s) Julia, Travis, and Jean all married and moved out of state (SC). Two of the three married Arkansans (one a Smith) and the third married a West Virginian. I've met one son (Ernest Jernigan) and his family: offhand, I don't recall which one was his mother.(Yes, my notes are *disorganized*. Some of this is on Family Origins.)
