Hi Wynona, The Whitaker Wanderings article gave the following on Mahala: Mahala, twin of Nathan, born 1840 married (1) William Jasper Fletcher in 1855. Their childrenwere: (1) John Harvy married Minnie Harrie - went to Texas c. 1880 (2)Mary Elizabeth (3) infant boy After William Fletcher died Mahal married Thomas Farmer, born 1825 in Fairfield C. S.C. they married in 1870 and reared the following children: (1) Rena Ann - died at 5 years (2) James Lewis - died at 2 years (named for James Whitaker and Lewis Farmer father of Thomas (3) infant son - died at birth twin (4) Sallie - twin married John Bearden (5) Joseph 1876 - married Lela Jane Sutphin b. 1882 It leaves off there and begins on another page talking about the Fletcher Family, McKinney Family, Dilworth Family, Buford family and Ikard Family. Mahala was born in 1840 so she would be 85 years old at the time she told all this to Ida Mae Whitaker her niece. The author of this article, whoever it was, went on to say that they believed that John Whitaker's ancestors were Joshua and Jane Parker Whitaker. Glad I could be of some help.
