My Whitakers/Whitacres/Whittakers spelled their names all three ways. Eva Ella Whitaker was born December `7, 1884 in AL married Andrew F. Spears July 5, 1903, had six children and lived in Coffee Co., AL but died in Thomasville, GA and is buried at New Salem Baptist Church near Palo, GA Eva's parents were Nancy (?) and James Madison Whitacre according to 1900 Coffee Co., AL Census. Nancy was born in 1863/64 in AL and died January 19, 1943. James was born July 1852 in GA and died in 1929. Other children, all born in Alabama, to Nancy and James Whitaker were Daniel J. June 1864, Cleveland Dec 1886, Lila C. Jan 1889, Sally V. April 1892, Bertie Lee Sept 1894. According to the 1880 Census of Coffee Co., AL James Whittaker, age 15, born in GA July 1852 had a wife Nancy Whittaker, age 17, born in AL and a son, Daniel, age 1 also born in AL According to 1870 Census of Henry Co., AL William Whitaker was born in 1828 in GA had a wife Elizabeth born in 1830. Their first child/ren were a set of twins born in 1842 Melissa and Narcissa, Mary J 1848, James 1851, Emma 1853, William 1856, Martha 1858. I believe William's brothers to be David, John, Columbus 1835, Nathan 1825 . Anybody know these Whitakers?
