I am looking for parents of: John Whitaker born about 1798 in Pitt Co.NC., died bef 1870 in Tishomingo Co MS. He married Cathrine Bishop (dau. of Mason & Mary Susanna Bishop Bishop, they were cousins) John and Cathrine were in Tishomingo Co MS by 1840.. Their children were: 1 Willis Whitaker born 1827 in AL and died in 1854 in Tishomingo Co. MS. He married Mary Polly Flatt. 2. Wilson (William) born abt 1829 in TN/AL died 1880 in Indian Territory of OK. He married 1st to Menvera Murphy in Tishomingo Co. MS in 1849. He married 2nd or 3rd. to Sarah Matilda Garrison Vanderpool in TX and they were in Denton Co TX in 1870. 3. Mary born abt. 1832 in TN. She married in 1853 to James Cooper. Mary was a widow in 1870 McNairy Co TN with 5 children.(Mary and chuildren apparently went to Denton Co.TX in the late 1870's) 4. James M. (Crow) born 1832 in TN died in 1926 in McNairy Co. TN.(my g.grandfather) He married the 4th time to Sarah Wilds in McNairy Co. TN 5. Susan born abt. 1837 in TN, died in the 1870's in McNairy Co. TN. she married Samuel Dennis Dancer. Samuel later went to TX. 6. Martha Jane born abt. 1839 in TN died in 1911 in Wright Co. MO. She married Willis Gray in Tishomingo Co. also. 7. Joseph born abt 1842, nothing else known. Could have died in the Civil War. 8. Cathrine born abt. 1845, died bef 1870. She married a Lambert. 9. Wesley born abt. 1848, died after 1902 probably in TX. He married in 1865 in McNairy Co TN to Sarah A.E. Chambers. They were in Denton Co. TX in 1880. We have been told that John was a son of John Whitaker Jr (born in 1760 in Pitt Co. NC) and his 2nd wife Winnefred His 1st wife was Pricella and 3rd wife was Susan Grahsm. And that John had a brother James. They in turn were sons of a John Whitaker and _____ Williams. I have collected information on these John Whitaker families, but as of yet found no proof that my John is from this line. Can any one out there help me on my John??? Will share info. Thanks Pat
