I'll take a moment to assume you are looking for Whitakers in Penn -slvania! I descend from Joseph Musgrave Whitaker of Leeds England to Coventry, Chester Co, PA to Hopewell Village, Berks Co, PA. He was a weaver and woodcutter at the forges. He had 13 children. Three of them became multi-millionaries, starting for one the Wheeling West Virginia Iron Works. (Mine worked for his brother!) Joseph M was born 1755, was in Light Horse Cavalry, deserved from British Army in march to Brandywine. There were Quaker? Whitakers in Chester Co in early 1700s. Another group of Whitakers were just across the line in Harford Co, MD and I believe another group in Cecil Co, MD - where my Whitaker line owned and worked the Princippio Iron Works. Mine were not related to others of MD above.
