The death date of 1662 is a typographical error. Jabez was born 1595-died 1626. Jabez seems to have died very young. He was a member of the House of Burgesses - which met March 5, 1623-1624, and a member of the Council 1626. He also was a Lieutinent-Captain of the Army. Jabez emigrated to Jamestown Colony, VA - June 23, 1620 - to be near his brother the Rev. Alexander Whitaker, The Apostle to Virginia. Alexander drowned in the James River several years before Jabez died. Possibly could dig a little deeper for an absolute death date as well as trying to find a wife of Jabez's son William. The other son was Richard Whitaker who married 1st - Mary Pyland and - 2nd - Elizabeth? Richard had one son named John. See if this helps.
