Hello-- I am a new member and would like to post my research interests: My great-grandfather, Joseph GREAVES, was born in 1955 in Upper Wortley, Hunslet, Yorkshire, England (as best I understand it, somewhat nearer to Leeds than Bradford). His parents were Joseph Greaves (a woollen cloth manufacturer) and his wife, Maria WHITAKER. (A marriage certificate is on order.) The younger Joseph emigrated to Providence, Rhode Island, then New Bedford, Massachusetts in the early 1880s, where he, too, worked in the textile industry. I know that there is a history of Leeds written by someone named Whitaker -- don't know if he's somehow related??
