I'm a new subscriber to the list. My grandmother, Annis Whittaker Hauseman, was born 30 July 1886 in Oldham, England to John Edward Raymond Whittaker (born circa 1862 in Oldham, died ca 1935 near Poughkeepsie, NY) and Hannah Brierly Whittaker (born circa 1865 (in Oldham?), died ca 1928 in Akron, Ohio). John and Hannah were wedded in 1883, and immigrated 1887 with Annis to Philadelphia. The Brierly surname was originally De Brierly, from France. John's mother was Florence Ellen Whittaker, and John had sisters named Anne Whittaker Smith and Elizabeth Whittaker Ravenscroft. When I was in England in 1983, I visited the address in Oldham that my mother remembered sending Care packages to during WWII, and after speaking with a neighbor managed to track down some long lost cousins. I am not sure where my records of that visit are in my basement, it's something I have been meaning to go find. But, since I have recently become aware of the Whittaker list, I thought I would see if anyone knew anything of my great-grandfather John or his mother Florence. Thanks! --Rob Norheim Robert A.
