Malinda (Millie) Whitaker was the daughter of John Whitaker and Milly Brookshire. Millie, the daughter, married Sampson Lewis about 1828 in Buncombe County, N.C. This family moved to Southeast Missouri. They are listed in the 1840 St Francois Co., Pendleton Twnp Census. By 1850 they were in Butler County, MO. Sampson Lewis died between Sept 8 - Oct 21, 1854.
