Patty, Do you know what his full name was? Jim

Sorry, Jim, my notes do not indicate what the initial B. (in William B. Whitaker) stands for. My very sketchy notes indicate that he deserted the family, but I do not know when. I did find an obituary notice in the St. Louis MO library services (on the internet) that listed a William Whitaker who died 7/15/1902, but this could be any one of a number of William Whitakers that I find on the Internet databases.
