Hi there, Many thanks for getting back to me. I have been trying to trace my Whitaker's for a long time and can't get past Thomas Whitaker and Ann Bishop married Birmingham 1821. Their ages seems to point to birth dates circa 1790. Most Thomas' I have found not to be ours. The 1851 census says Thomas (61Yrs) and Ann (58yrs)Whitaker born WOR. and Kruchen( which i assumed meant Crewkerne)SOM respectively. I did find one born Worcester 1790 but no documentation of proof. I found an Ann Bishop born Crewkerne but also no proof. They had 8 children, William, Thomas, Richard, John, George Atkins, Ann, Jane and Sarah. I have a feeling that maybe one of them went to the U.S. Our gg grandfather, George Atkins, came to Australia circa 1860. Don't know whether he came alone or with the family. I have a copy of the marriage entry in the Church of St Peter and Paul and also the christenings of the children in St Philips Birmingham. That is as far as I have been able to go. I have tried by myself but now need to "ask" for advice on the next step.
