Might as well add my two-cents. My WHITAKER line is definitely English. My late Mother seems to have had paperwork showing a Robert and Margaret (Lisle) Whitaker born in England probably in the early 1600s/Joshua and Jane (Parker) Whitaker born in England in 1670s/ William and Elizabeth (Carleton) Whitaker born in England in the early 1700s. Seems all of William and Elizabeth's children were born in the United States. Sorry, this is about all I can go into. Due to other responsibilities, just do not have time to really do further serious research. Hope this will help answer your question. Sincerely, Billie Beth Moore (I use Billie Beth, please.) In Eastern Pennsylvania the Whitakers were English, mine coming from Yorkshire and Lancastershire.
