Any help appreciated. >> Hi Dick, I thought I was familiar with most of the Whitaker's in Morgan, Owen, and Putnam Counties, Indiana, but your Henry and Rebecca Cline are new ones to me. Do you happen to be related to a Grace Carter, who lives out in Nevada. She too is a Whitaker Descendant. My wife descends from the Whitaker's in that same area. We do have some Cline's also in our Database. We have a Frank Cline that was married to Myria Whitaker, daughter of James K. Whitaker and Sarah Risinger and their children were: James, Laney, Libby, Fred. We also have several Henry Whitaker's but none married to a Rebecca Cline. We do have a Henry Whitaker, son of Walter Chiles Whitaker and Lizzy Dickinson, however we don't have his birth date or who he might have been married to. His mother and father were from Shelbyville, Kentucky though. Walter Chiles Whitaker was a grandson of the Rev. John Whitaker who founded the first church in Kentucky. Many of John's descendants moved from the Shelbyville and Louisville Kentucky areas north into Morgan County Indiana, so this Henry could very well be yours. This Walter Chiles Whitaker lived only a couple of miles from where we presently live (Lyndon, Kentucky). Walter Chiles was born Aug 8, 1823 and died July 9, 1887, so the dates do fit, as you said your Henry was married in the middle 1800's. If you are related to Henry and your Whitakers were in the Morgan County area, then you are definitely a cousin. Can you give us any information on this Henry Whitaker? Eager to hear from you. I have a Henry WHITAKER (b. abt 1854) as a son of Isaac WHITAKER (1809-1858) and Malsey HOWARD (1814-???) that moved to Adams County, IL. They were descended from the William and Jonathan WHITAKER I lines of Surry County, NC. Other WHITAKER researchers on the list may already know if this is, or is not, a connection, but thought I'd pass this along.
