I am looking for anyone who might be researching the more recent WHITAKER immigrants from Ireland to the coal mining region of Mahanoy City/Shenandoah PA in the mid 1800's.. so far, my particular line is Patrick Whitaker and Catherine Dolphin? (widow of Peter Haley) both born in Ireland in the 1830's. they had; George(b.abt 1864) died young in a mining accident. .........married? William (b.abt 1868) .......................................nothing else known MaryAnn married James Joseph Meehan of Shenandoah PA Ellen (b.abt 1870) ...........................................nothing else known James (b.abt 1872) died young of a (different) mining accident.....married? Margaret (my greatgrandmother). married William Fields of Atlantic City NJ There are ALOT of Whitakers in this area of PA all with the same given names repeating over and over...I keep thinking others (and I have met one recently) are out there looking at the same census' I am and saying 'where did all the decendants go??' and if we all get together and compare notes ...!!
